--Spoiler Warning for Children of the Earth--

By the way, this is a wallpaper, so feel free to download and use.

For those of you who either already know or don't care, this is my kind of tribute to Ianto Jones. I must admit that his death blind-sided me in a way that, literally, no other character has. I was absolutely not expecting that.

Children of the Earth was wonderful, I thought, dispite this heavy loss. It was wonderfully shot and mixed, the acting was the best it has ever been, and the story kept me begging for more (and screaming at the TV at the end).

It makes me wonder where Torchwood is headed from here, if anywhere. I've read that Russell T. Davies was quoted to have said something to the effect of "If Children of the Earth is well recieved, then there is another season ready to go." But how could you really go back to the way Torchwood was after this?

As sad as I am over the death of my favorite character, I will keep an open mind should there be another season. It will be starting fresh, for sure. I think, though, if there's one person who must be in a new season, it is Jack. The story can survive without Ianto (even though we will miss him very much), and can survive without Gwen. We've seen it can survive without Toshiko or Owen, and in fact, I don't think that Children of the Earth would've been half as good if they had still been around.

Don't get me wrong, I love Tosh and Owen, but the flow of the story would've been much choppier if they had five main characters to deal with instead of just three. As it was, three was a good number for this season.

This certainly won't be the last thing I do for Ianto, but the rest of it will most likely be in the form of fan fiction. No, I do not plan to bring him back in anyway. I was expecting Russell T. Davies to do that for us, and when he didn't, I had to accept that the character is gone. But I have other ideas...

I think that was the worst part: the lull between day four and five, sitting and waiting, wondering if he was going to come back by some miraculous loop hole. I'm okay with him being gone...my heart might've been ripped out and stomped on, but I'm okay with it now that I know for sure. Closure is the best thing, even if it's sad.

The interesting part was that it came out that no one really knew Ianto at all. We thought we knew something about him, but then Rhiannon, his sister, got all mad at Gwen when she was talking to him because the information Gwen was spouting was wrong. Apparently, Ianto had lied to everyone about himself, which was really sad.

My final word is that Children of the Earth was such a whirlwind and so good that I spent the whole rest of the night after the end going "It was so good...and I'm so bummed...but it was so good..."

May Gareth David-Lloyd move on and do great things
And may the fans allow and accept this

Ooohhh I love that neat background! It is really a simple, nice explanation of what happened to Ianto in Children Of Earth. And I agree with you about the whole thing with Children of Earth, but I am still bummed out about Ianto dieing. I'll bet its all for the good plot and something will come up later in either Doctor Who or Torchwood.

Thanks. I think, personally, in a situation like this, simple is better.

No, I'm totally bummed. Really. But I think I read that Gareth David-Lloyd was looking at coming to America. And so is Russell T. Davies. That's what I read anyway.

Still, if they had to kill Ianto, at least they gave him a fantastic send-off.

Well I'm not sure about Gerth David-Lloyd, but Russell T. Davies is stepping down from Doctor Who and Torchwood. It wouldn't surprise me if he was coming to America to do more projects for something. Or just coming over for Comic-Con which they do every year I think.

And yeah atleast he got a nice send-off, but I still have high hopes that the spirit of Scifi he was some how be brought back to life in the next season. You never knew ^.^

I read an interview in the Torchwood magazine where he mentioned coming over here. He said (and I quote) "Well, I'm about to go to LA for two months to meet some people, so you never know! I've got meetings with various networks and studios lined up, to see what king of impact I can make across the water." It's a British magazine, so "across the water" is definitely America. I knew Russell T. Davies left Doctor Who and all, but I didn't really realize that he might be coming over here. That's what his Wikipedia page said anyway, so I suppose it should be taken with a grain of salt.

I kept expecting him to either get out in time, or be brought back some way, but he wasn't. I think that if Gareth David-Lloyd wanted to come back, then the writers might find a way to bring the character back in some capacity, but I don't really think it would be a good move on their part. Still, yes, we can wish.

Ah well maybe we'll get lucky and he'll be doing something over here then. I have an odd question though, how do you get a hold of these Torchwood magazines? I'd really would like to knew. ^.^ Well if that's what Wikipedia said I'd trust it bout 65% or so, but if he comes over here and starts making great TV series' I'll be happy as I can be personally.

Yeah you never knew with actors, they chance career choices all the time. But I saw an interview/open mic gathering that he was at(on youtube)with the guy that plays Rhys and it didnt sound like he was leaving for good. He kind of played it out to be that he was either going to stay or maybe leave and come back, but as you said we can only wish.

I would love to see him in more things over here. He's a relatively new face in the world of acting, so it would be great if he got to do more and we got to see it, and I know that Torchwood looks great on his resume. And I don't always trust Wikipedia either, but it sounds plausible.

I've only bought two magazines because they are fairly expensive ($10 a pop!) and a subscription is waaaaay out of my price range right now. However, when I do buy them, I find them either at Borders or Barnes and Noble. I also occassionally play with the idea of picking up a Doctor Who magazine, though I think the one I really wanted has since been taken off the shelves.

:iconanimefan2424:
Actually I'm pretty sure he's well knew in other areas a part from acting. He actually goes between musician, comedian and actor I think, but once more I'm not sure. It'd be so awesome to see him in some work in America. And yeah I agree Wikipedia isnt that reply able but sometimes it is correct...sometimes..

Wow I don't think anime magazines are even that expensive! Man I doubt I'll ever get to read one of those now, darn it. I have a Borders near where I live, but it's a really small one and I've never seen one there before. I'll have to keep a look out from now on I guess. And yeah there hasn't been many new Doctor Who episodes so I wouldn't surprise me if that magazine would've been taken off the shelf

No, not Gareth David-Lloyd. John Barrowman, yes. Definitely. Gareth only has 8 entries on Internet Movie Database and only 7 stage things on his official site. For an actor, that's not much at all.

No, the Doctor Who magazine is still there, just the particular issue I wanted is gone I think. It's alright though. I didn't really need another magazine anyway. Even when it was taken off the air completely, the magazine still exsisted. And they are covering the specials just like the Torchwood magazine covered the Children of the Earth.
